TOP EUROPEAN CONCERT PIANIST IN KAPITI - MICHAEL ENDRES

In a development that will surely please Kapiti concert-goers, the highly regarded German pianist Michael Endres will open the Mulled Wine Concert programme this year. International critics have described Endres as "one of the most interesting pianists recording today". He has released 29 CDs during his career and his extensive prizewinning discography includes the prestigious Diapason d'or (France) which he was recently awarded for the third time and the Choc du Musique which he has won twice. He has appeared at major festivals and concert-halls all over the world. A prominent academic musician, Endres has had a distinguished teaching career in Germany and is currently recording in Australia.

The programme will include works by Joseph Haydn, Bach as transcribed by Wilhelm Kempff, and Beethoven - Sonata Opus 57 "Appassionata" and his Fifth Symphony transcribed by Liszt, which promises to be a massive audience thriller, according to recent performances in Christchurch.

Mulled Wine Concerts is now entering its thirteenth year of concerts in Paekakariki and organiser Mary Gow is jubilant. As she says, " We are delighted to be back in our "home" at the Memorial Hall, The Parade in Paekakariki. We have our stunning sea-front hall and a lovely programme to get us started. As we are in the "Beethoven's 250th Year" celebrating his baptismal year, it is appropriate that we include some of his masterpieces. What a pleasure it will be to hear beautiful music in such a pleasant setting!"
Sir Jon Trimmer is displaying his art works and also some of his brother's.
