Deidre Irons with Gillian Ansell
The 2015 series kicks off on Sunday 15 March at 2.30pm in the Paekakariki Memorial Hall, The Parade, with pianist Deidre Irons and viola player Gillian Ansell.
The concert will start with the Brahms Sonata in E flat for piano and viola, followed by Ravel's Sonatina for solo piano. Gillian Ansell will play Vieuxtemps Capriccio, a piece for solo viola, after the interval, and the programme will end with Brahms Sonata in F Minor for piano and viola. Mulled wine will be served at the end.
Deidre Irons continues to perform internationally and has, to date, given concerts in 25 countries. Her recordings and performances have included all five Beethoven piano concertos and his complete piano trio works, plus the complete works of both Brahms and Shostakovich for piano and strings.
Gillian Ansell is a founding member of the New Zealand String Quartet and Artistic Director of the Adam New Zealand Festival of Chamber Music. She was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for outstanding services to music.
