"I LOVE Mulled Wine Concerts as they are so intimate.
See you soon
With gratitude, Helen"
NZTrio
Versatile, exciting and true masters of their craft, NZTrio brings live music into focus in a digital age. The group was formed in 2002 by violinist Justine Cormack, cellist Ashley Brown and pianist Sarah Watkins with the objective of bringing intimate and dynamic performances of classical music to the listening public. Their artistry, intensity and approachability have captivated music-lovers throughout the world. Recent highlights have included tours to Cambodia, Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic, China and Taiwan and festival concerts in London and Sydney.
NZTrio will appear in Paekakariki at the Mulled Wine Concert at 2:30 PM on Sunday 13 March 2016. Mulled Wine Concerts organiser Mary Gow says "We are delighted that NZTrio has agreed to return to Paekakariki where they have a devoted following. I'm sure that this year's programme will prove to be a fantastic experience for Kapiti concertgoers".
The concert will include Camille Saint-Saȅns's Piano Trio No 2 in e minor, a five-movement masterpece, sometimes referred to as the greatest French piano trio of the 19th century. Also featured will be a specially-commissioned work by NZ composer David Hamilton, The Faraday Cage, written in 2015 for the group and two tangos by Piazzolla - Primavera Portena and Oblivion. Our three Kiwi performers will bring an intimate, dynamic and engaging performance to Paekakariki's lovely beachfront Memorial Hall.
Mulled Wine Concerts are now in their ninth season in the Memorial Hall and concert-goers have learned to value the venue for its sparkling acoustics and superb position with views to Kapiti Island. The local artist Sonia Savage will display her pictures at the hall. Paekakariki's beach, cafes and restaurants offer a vibrant day out for visitors who can top the experience off with a fine concert.
